What age do you move your child from a baby bed to a toddler bed?

My son and my boyfriends son is 1 year old. I would like to move them to a toddler bed, but my boyfriend thinks we should wait till they’re older. Need some opinions. Thanks
My son is starting to climb on everything and even trying to climb out of his bed.

I believe I was 1 1/2 when I got my first bed, but it may have been earlier than normal because my older sister was switching to a bed as well. I think my brother was 2 or so. He just went straight to a twin bed with a railing though because we’d sold the toddler beds years ago.
